Sound of Wood Concerts for Galway Fringe Festival

Three Sound of Wood Concerts will take place during Galway Fringe Festival this July.

20th April 2012

The Galway Fringe Festival will take place from July 12 to 30 with a view to promoting the thriving local arts scene and providing a platform for emerging and established artists.

The festival will take place across Galway city and county and is to be based on the model of other fringe festivals around the world. As a result it will be ‘open access’ meaning that all are welcome to participate and perform. The festival will feature theatre, music, literature, visual art, dance, and events.

Proposed venues for the Sound of Wood Concerts includes: Barna Wood in Galway City , the second is Coole Park , Gort and the third is Portumna Forest Park or the grounds of Portumna Castle.

Just Forests are delighted to be part of this great internationally renowned festival of arts and music and builds on our previous and most recent Sound of Wood Concert featuring The Chieftains and Tullamore Town Band.

The Galway Fringe is calling on all local arts groups, youth groups, theatre companies, musicians, individual artists, and anyone with a show in mind to register their event. The festival is also looking for volunteers.

As a result the organisers are holding a public meeting, entitled How to do a show on the Fringe, in Monroe’s Tavern this Monday at 7pm in order to create interest and attract participants for the festival. All are welcome.
